Help Lead Computer Literacy Workshops in the Bronx

After a great first computer literacy workshop in the Bronx a few months ago, we’re scaling this program up, and going to be having these workshops on a recurring basis!

We are in need of a few more volunteers to help with computer literacy workshops at a supportive housing site in the Bronx! Help neighbors learn about internet basics, email/portal access, and how to recognize scams. No special expertise is required, just comfort with computer basics.

Email caroline@openheartsinitiative.org if you’re interested in helping out!

Card-Making for Bronx Neighbors

The Fulton Community Reentry Center is opening in the Bronx this week, offering 140 transitional reentry housing beds to returning citizens. The building will include spaces to share meals, foster community, and offer resources to formerly incarcerated individuals and their families. You can learn more about the site here.

Bronx Open Hearts is creating welcome cards and resource packets to support these new neighbors as they move into the site. We’ll be meeting at a volunteer’s apartment (address will be shared upon RSVP), which has an elevator and no pets. Card-making supplies will be provided! RSVP below to join us:

Each kit will contain hand sanitizer, socks, food, water, deodorant, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, and will be distributed directly on the streets. Use the link below to donate if you’re interested, or to share it with your networks!
