UWS Open Hearts, our flagship chapter, works to welcome and support homeless neighbors on the Upper West Side. The chapter’s two committees, Kindness and Policy, meet virtually on a regular basis.

Join a Shelter Support Team
We’re forming groups called “shelter support teams” to build targeted relationships with our neighbors on the Upper West Side staying in temporary housing! We’ll work together with shelter staff and residents to identify needs and wants and collaborate, using our skills and connections, to deliver material resources, programs, and other forms of support to our neighbors, all while building lasting relationships that create a stronger neighborhood.
Show Support for Welcoming Neighbors to the 59th St Shelter
There’s a shelter coming to W. 59th St that has unfortunately been getting pushback from some community members. If you’re an Upper West Sider who believes that every neighborhood—including ours—needs to do its part to end homelessness, make your voice heard! Reach out to us to learn more about opportunities to voice support for welcoming neighbors to this new shelter.
