Midtown Book Drive
Midtown Open Hearts is organizing a book drive for neighbors at the Hudson Family Residence in collaboration with Manhattan Community Board 4! We're looking for books for children and teens of all ages--in English, Spanish, or both. All books must be in excellent condition or new. You can bring your books directly to the Hudson Family Residence at 440 W. 41st St (between Dyer Ave and 10th Ave) in Manhattan. If you live in Midtown and have books to donate but are unable to drop off, please reach out to us at info@openheartsinitiative.org and we can try to arrange a pickup.
Coloring Books and Art Supplies for Neighbors at Roosevelt Hotel
Donate coloring books and art supplies to keep asylum-seeking kids and families entertained as they await shelter placements! The Roosevelt Hotel on E. 45th St. in Midtown serves at the welcome center for the thousands of new arrivals who enter New York City each week, up to 400 per day. It often takes the City several hours to place families in emergency shelter throughout the City, which means they are waiting in the common area of the Roosevelt Hotel. We’re hoping to provide some coloring books, crayons, and other art materials to keep kids entertained and comfortable while they’re awaiting shelter placement. Little things like this can make a big difference for our neighbors!
If you’re able, please click the button below to see our wishlist that includes lots of different items that our neighbors might enjoy, and consider donating! Thank you for supporting our new neighbors experiencing homelessness in New York City.
*NOTES:
The wishlist shipping address, located in Brooklyn, is a central facility where Health + Hospitals, which runs the Arrival Center, can receive the items. They will then transport them to the Roosevelt Hotel and deliver to kids and families.
